Artist Statement:

Rabail Ali is a Pakistan based multidisciplinary artist whose practice explores identity, self-perception, and the emotional pressures that shape an individual’s sense of self. Through figurative painting, she examines themes of introspection, belonging, femininity, and societal expectations.

In works such as Introspection, Fitting In, Her Highness, and The Weight of the Wardrobe, she uses the human figure, symbolism, and color to express experiences that often remain unspoken. Her work reflects the tension between individuality and the roles people are expected to embody, while exploring how these expectations influence self-perception.

Through painting, Rabail creates intimate visual narratives that invite viewers to reflect on identity, vulnerability, and belonging.

Exhibition Statement:

This exhibition brings together four figurative works by Rabail Ali that explore identity, self-perception, belonging, and the pressures of societal expectations. Through Introspection, Fitting In, Her Highness, and The Weight of the Wardrobe, the exhibition moves through different emotional states—from looking inward and seeking acceptance to confronting femininity, appearance, and the roles individuals carry.
